In the beginning of last month I did a post centered around ten things that I wanted to focus on throughout the month. (Check it out here if you haven't seen it!) Since it is the beginning of April, I thought it would be cool to update you guys on how I did last month and my 10 things that I want to focus on this month.
Let's begin with what I had a little bit of trouble sticking too. "Getting to the gym" was easily the hardest of my tasks. I struggled with making the time to get there every other day, so that is something that I really want to focus on again this month. Another one of my task was to "learn french," which went pretty poorly. As a college student, who also has a job, making time for things that do not have to be done right away can get tricky, but this is something that I really want to learn and need to make the time for. Those were the two big ones that did not really happen this month.
There were two that I put in a good effort, but I know I can do better and those were "eating more vegetables" and "keeping my room clean." I was doing very well with these throughout most of the month, but the last week and a half or so I have really struggled with them.
The rest of them I think I was able to accomplish. The "not be so shy" and "travel more" tasks were the ones that I took baby steps with, but that is all I really wanted to do for the first month. Overall, I think last month was a success.
Now let's move on to this month. I have 10 things to work on for the month of April, some of them being the same as last month and others completely new.
Here they are:
1. "Get on a Better Sleep Schedule:" The past few months have been rough for me in the sleep department. I haven't been able to fall asleep until around 3am every night. I don't know why I can't sleep, but I really need to fix it. I think to start with, I am going to stop with technology an hour before I get into bed. Hopefully this will help, (or at least that is what I have read!)
2. "No Buy April:" I have done this in the past and it is a nice challenge for me! I am a beauty addict and sometimes (*cough* all the time *cough*) I buy things that I don't really need at that present moment. I have a rather large collection of skincare, body and beauty products. So, for the month of April, I will not be buying any of those types of products in order to use up some of my stash!
3. "Get to the Gym (at least three times a week):" This is the same as last month's but I changed the amount. I think three days will definitely be more doable with my schedule.
4. "Cook My Own Food:" Last month I wanted to eat more vegetables and had mildly good success with that, but I have been eating out a lot! ( Want an example: I am typing this post from a Panera :( *looks down ashamed*) In order to correct that I want to start cooking my own meals!
5. "Learn French:" This is the same as last month!
6. "Hang out with my Friends:" I am a home-body. When I am not at school or work, I love to be at home reading a book or watching a movie. I want to make more time to hang out with my friends and go places with them!
7. "Put Effort into my Hair:" I know, I know, this is a very silly one, but my hair and I have a love/hate relationship. I love how long it is, but it is the biggest pain to style and if I don't style it, it lays limp and lifeless against my head! I need to get it cut, colored and styled and then I need to put the effort into maintaining it!
8. "Pay Attention to the World:" I find it easy to get caught up in my life and what I am doing and not pay attention to what is happening with the world. My sister is very conscious to all things political, religious and worldly and I admire that about her. I want to really know what the issues are and how can I help to resolve them (or at least have an educated opinion on some of them!)
9. "Not be so Shy:" This was in last months ten, and will probably in next month's, because it is an ongoing struggle for me! I have a very hard time getting to know people and, in turn, letting people get to know me!
10. "Be Happy:" I am generally a happy person and it is very important to stay positive in my life! If, at the end of this month, the only thing that I have achieved is this one than that is enough for me!
