Limited Edition "50 Shades of Grey" Collection by Make Up For Ever Review!!!!

Hey Guys,

On February 14, 2015, Valentines Day, the movie Fifty Shades of Grey will release into cinemas. The much anticipated movie, follow the character Anastasia Steel, played by Dakota Johnson, through her adventure of capturing the heart of one, Mr. Christian Grey, portrayed by Jamie Dornan.
Naturally, when Make Up For Ever, launched their limited edition “Fifty Shades of Grey” collection, I was very excited. I ended up picking up the biggest set in the collection, the “Give in to Me” kit.

Limited Edition "Give in to Me" kit by Make Up For Ever

Now to be completely honest, I did not enjoy the books. The plot, although I enjoyed it, I thought it had been dragged out into three books, (purely for money making purposes) when it could have been completed all in one book. The story line, although other critiques will say it’s overused, I enjoyed. I love a good romance story. My major issue with the books was the writing, which I found to be adequate at best, and at times tedious to read, mostly because of the repetitiveness (the same words were used over and over again). I ended up having to force myself to finish the last of the three books. Having said all that, I still enjoy the idea of the Fifty Shades series, and the impact it had on society.
Now back to the makeup collection, which includes, 4 eye shadows, 1 lipstick, 1 lip gloss, an eyeliner, and a mascara, all housed in a beautiful keepsake box.

The box itself is quite nice, and well made with the Make Up For Ever logo on top.

Along the sides of the lid, include words and sayings from the series.

The inside of the lid includes a large mirror. The bottom compartment is split into two sections; the first is a secret compartment which opens with a very beautiful, and intricate metal knob. The second holds the products and can easily be removed, transforming this into a keepsake box, or jewelry holder.

Onto the products, which are all apart of the Make Up For Ever permanent line. The kit includes 4 eye shadows in the shades: I-514, ME-612, S-556, I-628. I-514 is a soft pink ivory color, and it has an iridescent finish to it. ME-612 is described on the Make Up For Ever website as being a silver brown. I’m going to describe it as a cool-toned copper color, if that makes sense! It has a metallic finish. S-556 is a taupe grey, with a very soft purple tinge to it, and it has a satin finish. I-628 is describe on the website as Reptile (LOVE THAT DESCRIPTION!!!!). I am going to describe it as being a dark golden, olive color. This shadow has an iridescent finish as well.  The eye shadows come in a compact, with a nice sized mirror, and all four shades are wearable, everyday colors. The quality of these shadows is phenomenal (Some of my favorite!). They are extremely pigmented, and I find that the more you work with them, the more vibrant the pigment becomes. They are long lasting and blendable, but not too blendable, where you are in danger of overblending them.

The lipstick is from their Rouge Artist Natural line. The shade is N-4, which is a beautiful warm-toned pink brown color. It has a slight glossy finish. This formula is smooth, non-drying, easy to apply and comfortable to wear. The longevity you get is not the best, because it is a glossier finish, but you will get about 3 hours wear before you really need to touch up.

The lipgloss is from their Lab Shine Diamond Collection. The shade is D14, which is a pink with gold shimmer.  I am not a huge fan of any type of lip gloss, (I prefer lipstick!) so I was not a huge fan, but that is a personal preference. For anyone that is lip gloss lover, this shade is wearable, very shiny, and not too sticky.

The eyeliner is their Graphic Liner, a felt tip in the color black (I think that is the only color it comes in because there is no color number on it). I find this eyeliner easy to use, and long wearing.  It dries down fairly quickly and leaves a semi-shiny finish. The only issue I have with the liner is the packaging. The lid does not click into place, so it does not feel very secure to me. (I’m afraid it might dry out quicker than others.)

The mascara, the Smokey Extravagant, is a favorite, and is amazing if you like really voluminous lashes. The brush is a bristle brush and has a tapered end to it, which is what will achieve those volumized lashes. The formula is great! It is long wearing, easy to remove, and I have had no issues with it smudging or flaking.

Overall I think that this is a great kit! All products are full sized, except the mascara, which is a travel or deluxe sample size. This would make a great gift for someone if they have read and loved the books! Even if they did not enjoy the series, but is looking for a good beginner set, I would recommend this!
The “Give in to Me” kit retails for $79.00, which I think is an amazing value, considering the amount of full sized products included in the kit, and the quality of those products. If you are interested in picking this guy up, or checking out the other sets in the collection they are available through Make Up For Ever stores and in-store or online through Sephora.
I hope you guys liked this review and found it helpful! Thanks for reading and have a wonderful day!

Lots of Luck,

   Mallory
